• Version Two - fabric selection

Back from a short vacation to visit my brother. When I was working on designing ‘Something Simple’, I came up with several other design ideas. I knew I would be making another version. Using the same small block unit but in a different layout. Here are some of the fabrics I considering using for version two.

  • Version One - Something Simple

I went through many designs and many layouts using the little block unit but decided this was the one that worked the best for these fabrics. Let me introduce my latest small wall hanging ‘Something Simple’. Well, technically is isn’t done. It is a summer weight quilt as my best friend and quilting buddy calls it. Top completed and waiting for the layers.

When I see all of the beautiful machine quilting there is out in blogland it tends to make me feel a bit intimidated but also inspired. Quilting my own quilts is on my ‘TO DO’ list. I need to set aside some time and just DO IT. Do you machine quilt or send it out to someone?

  • Something Simple

In looking around different blog sites, I came across this photo at Hoosier Toni. Really like the color, the layout, the sweet and simple nature of the design. But then I was hit with the ‘what if’s’.

what if I made it bigger…
what if the layout was different…
what if the blocks had more background than color…
    what if I added sashing…
what if I put the block on point…

OMG…something that started off nice and easy has now become more complicated. Thinking through some of my MANY design ideas I decided that I needed to take some fabrics and make some blocks. I could then move them around to see WHICH design layout I liked best. Here is a photo of the small wall hanging in pieces. Not sure about the color placement but since they are pinned to a fleece square I can move them around until I am happy.
