Americana
Well, I finally got one of my projects completed. There were too many going so I decided I had to stop and concentrate on one. The weather was helpful – it rained on and off for a couple of days which kept me out of the garden and in the studio. ‘Americana’ finished at 43″ x 55″. After agonizing over the border design/size etc for ages, I decided that my pieced triangle border was a distraction. I really like how the simplicity of a plain background frame shows off the center.

But then what do I do with the four border sections I didn’t use. Do I take them apart or sew the strips together for a funky wall hanging or table runner? Hmmm… something to ponder.

Check out my ‘Linky Parties’ page to find some fabulous blogs where I share my projects and get inspiration. What are you working on?
Have a fabulous week.

I think you made a good choice…. I love the negative space in this quilt. I have a bundle of Americana fabrics that I’ve been looking forward to cutting into, but I don’t think it’s going to happen before July as planned! Thanks for sharing your work!

Lorinda, I had these fabrics since last summer. Started to ponder what I wanted to do but it wasn’t until winter before I knew wanted I wanted to do with them. Of course, the design/layout changed 100 times along the way. Micki

Your quilt is beautiful! You’re right, the simple white shows off your blocks really well, such a simple design but very effective, well done!

I like this modern take on these blocks, having them floating in the white background. I say use those bits for a funky border – it will look awesome.

Carrie, interesting enough I wasn’t thinking modern when I started making this quilt. I thought it would be more traditional due to the color choices. Funny on designs can change along the way. Glad you liked the quilt. Thanks for stopping by. Micki
