Quiltville Mystery Blocks

March 5, 2018 in QUILTING

I have all of the blocks sewn together. I decided that even though I made MANY of Bonnie’s sashing units that I am going to change the sashing to a plain light grey instead.

The pink you see in the photo is my design wall (insulation boards attached to my studio wall). The color is slightly off in the photo. The light background in the center of the block is really a pale grey and the colors are a bit more vibrant. It is tone down the busyness and brightness of the quilt.

Quiltville Mystery Clue 6 and 7

January 18, 2018 in QUILTING

Clue 6 and 7 of Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Challenge has you sewing together some of the units you have already completed. Here is a sample of some of mine.

Clue 6 and 7

Clue 8 has you putting the blocks together and clue 9 shows you how to put the whole quilt together. For those that have been following Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Challenge have already seen the reveal. It is an awesome quilt. I am still working on finishing the clues but it is coming along nicely.

This will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me but …. I think I will be making some changes to the layout.

Have a great day!

2017 Quiltville Mystery Clue 3 to 5

January 1, 2018 in QUILTING

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Since I prefer making smaller quilts I am only making about half the units for each clue and will decide after the reveal if I need to go back and make more.

Oops…just noticed that the photo includes clue 2 but not clue 3.

Clue 2, 4, and 5

Here is clue 3. As you can see I have some trimming in my future. Whenever possible I tend to oversize pieces – I know, more work but I get a more accurate pieced unit.

Clue 3

For more information about the mystery challenge you can click on the icon in the right hand side bar. This will link you to Bonnie’s blog and you can click on the ‘On Ringo Lake’ tab at the top of the page. Also, check out the ‘linky party’ posts. Many of the folks are using Bonnie’s colors but I did see some other color combinations. It will be interesting to see the finished quilts.

If you think you might be interested in doing the quilt, you will want to make sure to either download or print the clues now. On February 1, 2018 Bonnie will retired the mystery and the digital pattern will be available for purchase in her Quiltville store.

2017 Quiltville Mystery Clue 1

December 4, 2017 in QUILTING

Are you participating in Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville Mystery Challenge “On Ringo Lake’? I am although I am not much of a mystery type quilt gal. I challenged my fellow quilt guild members to do this mystery as a group project. There are four of us that will be making quilts. I am not sure how big of a quilt I want so I am making about half the blocks. I can always go back and make more after the reveal.

Clue 1 has you making nine patches. I wanted more variety so I did shorter strip sets.
