Batik Rectangles (aka scrap vortex)
Here is a little background on my struggles making my ‘Batik Rectangles’ quilt. I started off with a great idea to make a quilt similar Judy Turner’s Checkerboard quilt.

Now I needed to get the blocks on the wall so I can decide which ones will get the dark block sashing vs the light. Took awhile to get the blocks where I wanted them (forever moving them around..nothing new). Even with 48 fabrics some of the little rectangles were close to each other. Oh well. As I was looking at them I start to think that I really like them the way there are. Do I really need the block sashing?
This is my version of a ‘scrap vortex’ quilt. Sometimes it’s okay to change your mind on the design – you might even surprise yourself with the results.

I love it the way you decided to do it!

I like how your batik quilt turned out! You are right, there is nothing wrong with changing your mind, midstream!

Wonderful collection of batiks. I like the contrast created by the light and dark borders. It’s going to be a great quilt.

This is so pretty! Such a simple quilt but the batiks give it a lot of depth.

Your final choice is just right, letting the colors themselves shine. It’s nice and simple. Found you at Sew Cute Tuesday and plan to follow you, like your style of improvisation. Please do check me out at Paula B Quilts. Keep up the good work!

The final choice is the best, so simple but it lets the colors be the focus, and they shine. Found you on Sew Cute Tuesday and plan to follow you. Please do check out my blog, Paula B Quilts. Keep up the good work!
