Design Wall Wednesday - 2.25.2015

The block I am using for my next quilt is called ‘Boy’s Nonsense. I think the design will show off my collection of beige, brown, grey and black fabrics nicely. I first saw the block being used in a quilt at ‘Where the Orchids Grow’ blog. See the quilt here. Check out her tutorial page if you are interested in making the quilt. There are two parts but it looks fairly easy.

Here are a few block units I have pinned onto a piece of flannel. I need to cut more fabrics before I make any final decisions on which fabrics will go together.

I found more information and various sizes of templates for the block on Jinny Beyer’s website here. I am blessed with a large design wall that allows me the freedom to move around the pieces around until I am happy. I will be putting the units together differently than the tutorial by sewing them together on the diagonal. I am more of a planned scrappy quilter.

My ‘Gum Drops’ quilt is coming together nicely. The blocks and sashing/post strips are all sewn into rows. Since the design wall is empty I thought it was a good time to layout my ‘Ribbon Candy’ blocks. This might take awhile since I am a little Quilt OCD and I will probably be moving the blocks around a hundred times.
