Scrappy Summer #5
Here is the last of the 2014 Scrappy Summer series of quilts. Scrappy Summer #5 – ‘Triangles’ finished at 48″ x 58″ using 64 different triangle fabrics and eight background and border fabrics.

I thoroughly enjoy making these five small quilts and I renamed the series ‘2014 Scrappy Summer.’ I have a lot of fabric leftover and at least a couple more designs that I want to make. I see a 2015 Scrappy Summer series in my future. Once you get the fabric chosen it is fun to only to have to concentrate on figuring out an easy design.
What am I doing next? I have been inspired by a couple of quilts that Carla (member of our quilt group) has made using upcycled men’s shirts. I have been gathering the shirts for awhile and recently started cutting them up into squares and rectangles to make a scrappy quilt. The other project, I am really looking forward to, is using a fabric collection of muted pink, orange, teal, and lime green. It will be fun to sew on bright colors during the winter. What is on your to-do wish list?
The garden is all cleaned up and ready for winter – which is good since we might get some snow flakes tonight.

What a neat pattern. I really like how the triangles are separated from each other. They are so striking!

This is great! I love a good triangle. Love the idea of upcycling mens shirts into quilts. Can’t wait to see it.

I made a queen-sized similar one from all scraps. It might be one of my very favorite quilts! I like how you used the same background, on each row, creating a striped effect.

Lori, glad you like the quilt. Once I figured out what I wanted to do (too many options in my head) it went together quickly. Micki
