Scrappy Summer Fabrics

Friday, June 13, 2014 in GARDENING, QUILTING by 2 Dogs Studio

I am working on my Scrappy Summer quilt idea. What is that you say? Well, during the summer I spend more time in the garden and less time quilting. I needed a simple quilt idea(s) that are fun and easy. I have a lot of mostly tone on tone fabrics in medium to dark in my stash that I thought would be perfect. Ok..sounds easy. After hunting through my stacks of fabrics, I have found and cut 66 fat quarters. What was I thinking? 66 fabrics – seriously…that is like 16 1/2 yards of fabric. Okay, now that I have gotten over the initial shock of the number of fabrics, I am working on getting them all pressed and starched. It is all good, think about it, I will eventually have all the fabric ready to use to make a few scrappy smaller quilts. Time to play.

I have already decided that the first quilt will be my version of the ‘Scrappy Trip Around the World’. You can check out Quiltsville for the free instructions here. Since my quilt won’t be very large I am thinking of calling it ‘Trip Around the City’ instead. Any suggestions?

Photo from my garden of some very pale peach/pink iris’s. I also have lots of light and dark purple iris’s blooming. Several of my peony’s are just starting to open. Hopefully, the rain we are expecting this weekend won’t destroy them.
