Quilt as you go

Have you ever been tempted to try the ‘quilt as you go’ technique? I have. I have done a couple of smaller projects where you quilt the completed 8″ block, then added sashing to both the sides. Works great if you are wanting the skinny sashing. But for this quilt I already have a rail fence sashing.

While looking at an old copy of Quilter’s Newsletter I found some instructions for a different method. Very cool. The quilt is done in sections. Pinwheels might be a good quilt to try the technique. The quilt blocks have been sewn into horitontal rows. Still need to add the pieced border and sew on the sashing strips. Next step is finding some backing and batting.
